Perceived Stress Mother Fetus in Gynecology

Pregnant women are strongly advised to stay calm and relaxed because of perceived stress involved felt her fetus. Under stress the body will release the hormone cortisol and participated impact on fetal growth and development.

When mothers experiencing high stress and long lasting, such as domestic violence, stress hormone receptor biology will lead to changes in the fetus. These changes could result in the child's future will be difficult to cope with stress alone.

Stress exposure in the womb is also associated with behavioral and mental disorders in adulthood.

Results were published in the journal Psychiatry Translational. The study was small scale and conducted on 25 women and their children aged between 10-19 years. In this research, these women live with the constant stress during pregnancy due to receive harsh treatment from her husband.

However, the researchers also mentioned the results of this research has not come to that conclusion because other factors may contribute, such as the environment in which children grow up.
