When Little Full Scalp Dandruff

Dandruff does not just affect adults. Children also can develop dandruff. Slightly different, dandruff on the baby instead of white scales, but more like a crust. No wonder, if more people knew him as the head crust or crust cap (cradle cap).

The most Javanese more often call it by name convulsions. The crust is usually occurs when a baby aged less than three buIan.

Eddy Karta, a specialist in skin and venereal Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta, explained, convulsions occurred because it is still lagging the hormone androgen in the body of the little guy. This hormone is derived from the placenta when the baby is still in the womb.

These androgens that trigger the occurrence of dysfunction or malfunctioning oil glands (sebum) on the baby's head. Cradle cap is usually preceded by white scales on the baby's scalp. Because it is often exposed to the air outside, white scales and so it could thicken the crust. "But, with decreasing content of androgens, the crust gradually thins and peel yourself," said Eddy.

Although able to go away, does not mean you should leave it alone. Since baby skin is very sensitive, the presence of the crust can make the itching and discomfort resulted. Moreover, if allowed to continue, the crust on this baby can also interfere with hair growth.

To clean the dandruff on the baby, the doctors do not recommend you use anti-dandruff shampoo for adults. "Use of products for babies and baby shampoo to gently brush using washlap," said Eddy.

Do not force also revoke the crust of the baby's head because it can cause infections of the skin. To be more easily cleaned, you can apply baby oil so the crust attached to the scalp is easily cleaned when bersampo. (Cash / Sanny Cicilia Simbolon)
