Fruits and Vegetables Have Different Effects of different in Intestine

Fruits and vegetables both contain fibers that can prevent colon cancer. However, each type of fruit and vegetables have different benefits in each part of the intestine so that the variation needs to be done to get the full benefit.

A recent study showed that the risk of cancer in every part of the intestine is affected by the type of fruit and vegetables consumed. While reducing the risk of cancer in certain parts, fruits and vegetables may also increase the risk of other parts.

For example, fruits, especially apples can reduce the risk of bowel cancer in general. But specifically in the rectum or colon end of stemming the anus, the consumption of too much fruit juice increased the risk of cancer.

While certain vegetables, especially yellow vegetables can offer an increased risk in parts of the intestine near the anus, including the colon and rectum. At a reasonable portion or not an exaggeration, the apple also reduce the risk in this section.

"Since long, fruit and vegetables are always associated with the prevention of colorectal cancer (colon and rectum). But there is always a debate because the effect is different in each part of the intestine," said researcher, Prof Lin Fritschi from the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research.

Preventive effect on colon cancer as a whole is generally associated with fiber content in vegetables and fruits. Types of carbohydrates that the body can not digest it function like a brush that cleans the impurities in the intestine, which can sometimes lead to cancer.

Some types of vegetables and fruits along with its influence on every part of the intestine according to the study are as follows:

1. Vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and cabbage can reduce the risk of colon cancer in the proximal portion that includes the appendix and surrounding areas.

Total intake of fruit and vegetables are generally reduces the risk of bowel cancer in the distal part, which involves the rectum and colon as a whole.

2. Yellow vegetables and apples are significantly reduced risk of colon cancer in the distal part.

On the other side, this fruit juice if consumed too much actually increase the risk of cancer in the rectum.

Total intake of fruit and vegetables in general does not increase the risk of cancer, especially in the proximal and rectum.
