Injectable Vitamins Not Available Indications and Dangerous

Increasing trend of injecting vitamins. Singer Britney Spears, Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams is said to use it to increase stamina before the concert. In fact, now not only the artists, the executives were devastated "fever injectable vitamins" to increase fitness.

The question is, safe practice and the extent of his usefulness? According to Professor of Pharmacology Faculty of Medicine, University of Gadjah Mada Dwiprahasto Iwan, the practice is a therapeutic drug delivery off label alias is not indicated.

"Preparations of vitamin given by injection approved Food and Drug Administration for treatment for a severe vitamin deficiency in which oral administration is less effective. The use of the fitness for purpose is not in the governance guidelines of treatment." he said.

Iwan explained, the original practice of injecting vitamins performed intradermal (into the layer under the skin) for cosmetic reasons. Mesoterapi practice began in the 1950s in France. When people age, their skin began to wrinkle. This is believed due to decreased levels of vitamins. In order for the skin refreshed, performed injections, usually vitamins A, C or D.

In Indonesia, this practice is commonplace in salons. If the United States, injecting vitamins performed by doctors who studied cosmetic dermatologists dermatology. While in Indonesia, mostly general practitioners who take the course in a matter of days abroad.

Evolve

Now, the practice evolved into the intravenous injection of (blood vessel). In this case believed to be vitamin antioxidants to overcome the damage to cells and can regenerate cells. Injectable vitamin believed to make people feel fitter because the vitamin directly into the blood vessels and metabolized by the body.

"It's really wrong. Rasa fitter is the placebo effect, only a suggestion because the person concerned wished to feel refreshed after the injection," said Iwan. Vitamins are usually injected for the purpose of fitness is vitamin B12, BI, C and E.

According to Iwan, there has been no clinical trials that are evidence that the therapy was beneficial. Because the use of outside indication, the therapy is on your own risk, the risk borne alias. If side effects occur, most users will not protest. However, if there are users that demand, a doctor who could be subject to allegations of malpractice.

This was in line with experts in MayoClinic which states, need further research to prove the claim that injections of vitamin B12 can treat fatigue, illness cell disorders, circadian rhythm disorders, as well as shaky legs syndrome. In addition, there is no evidence that vitamin B12 injections to help reduce weight.

An important point often overlooked, according to Iwan, vitamins should not be injected in obese people because of hypersensitivity reactions to the higher. Similarly, in adolescents under the age of 18.

Iwan said the vitamins should have obtained the body through metabolism, rather than injected. Impacts that may occur is infection. If the syringe is not sterile, can catch the disease, like HIV, or hepatitis B or C. Another thing, there could be an allergic form of hives (rash) or bumps caused by vitamin accumulate under the skin.

Fitness related, according to Iwan, the conditions were in fact originate from inadequate nutritional needs of the body, namely carbohydrates, protein, and fat in equal number. As for vitamins and minerals are needed only in very small amounts. Vitamin C is only 20-100 milligrams per day, while vitamin B12 up to 200 micrograms per day.

Injecting typically use much higher doses than needed. For example, given 1 gram of vitamin C, while vitamin B12 is given in a matter of milligrams. As a result, levels of vitamins in the blood will be too high. The remainder will be discharged through the vitamin, kidney. If the levels of vitamins in the blood are too high and saturated, the kidneys work too hard so that it can interfere with its function and even renal failure. Moreover, people tend to forget to drink if you feel refreshed. In fact, water is needed to remove toxic metabolic waste.

Milder side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or pain in the nerve endings and the surface of the body because the body is saturated vitamins. Vitamins were then stacked in the network, both in the skin, muscle, bile, and liver.

Especially for injections of vitamin B12, mild side effects, among other things, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, pain or heat at the injection site, headache, and joint pain. In the event of side effects such as heart palpitations; tightness or chest or leg pain, weight gain, weakness or muscle cramps, thirst, frequent urination, confusion, dizziness, numbness, difficulty breathing or swallowing, shortness of breath in a state of rest; coughing and sneezing; swelling especially on the hands, feet, or heels; redness, itching, and rash occur, should get immediate medical help. Allergic reactions can be fatal.

Better from food

According to the WebMD site, nutrients should be obtained from fresh foods rather than supplements or through injection. In the food there is often a complex of antioxidants which work synergistically, such as quercetin (in apples, onions, tea, red wine) that are anti-inflammatory and can reduce allergies.

Another is a complex antioxidant luteolin (in celery, green peppers) that are anti-inflammatory and is believed to help prevent Alzheimer's. Catechins (flavonoids in tea) can reduce the risk of heart ganggnan, cancer, and Alzheimer's.

Sources of vitamin B12 are animal foods such as beef, milk, cheese, fish, lobster, crab, and oysters. Rarely do people have a deficiency of vitamin B12, except for the vegetarians, people who lack food, the elderly, and people with anemia.

Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms are trembling, muscle weakness, mood disorders, visual disturbances, low blood pressure, and bladder disorders. In such people needed an injection of vitamin B12. Usually doctors give patients doses of 25-100 micrograms for deficiency.

If you can not get enough antioxidants from fresh foods, experts recommend taking a multivitamin and mineral. Be careful taking single supplements to boost immunity, do not overdo it. Excess vitamin A and E, the type of fat-soluble vitamins and difficult to be removed from the body, can be toxic. Vitamins A, D, E, and K can also be poisonous if injected directly into a vein.

Now, the choice in your hands. Want fresh moment with the risk of kidney failure at some point or implementing a healthy lifestyle, including the diligent exercise and eating foods with nutrients as needed in order to stay fit throughout life.
