Mom is Better Than Pain In Children Dealing Daddy

Generally, the mother does have a special closeness and spend more time with his son. It turned out that in dealing with a sick child, the mother is also doing better than the father.

Studies conducted at the hospital showed that the pain experienced by children when blood drawn less so when held by the mother than when held by her father.

C. Celeste Johnston of McGill University's School of Nursing in Montreal involving infants who were treated in hospital and require blood tests-making procedures remain in the heel. For this study will be held by the baby's mother and father to interchangeably by the next procedure.

If the baby held by his father, the pain score between 8.5 to 8.6 within 30 seconds to 1 minute after blood is drawn. But when carried by the mother then the pain was reduced by 1.4 to 1.5 points.

The results of this hypothesis suggests that there is something unique about the baby's comfort when in contact with the mother, especially in the chest area, because the male body is generally babies do not feel a natural parenting style.

"Mothers usually have little experience with it so they can perform better than the father," said Dr. Larry Gray, a pediatrician from the Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago, as quoted by Reuters on Thursday (08/09/2011) .

Yet Dr. Gray said the most important thing is the presence of contacts from both parents for their children. The benefits would be felt if the parents do kangaroo technique while holding her child.

Kangaroo technique is to provide skin to skin contact and put the baby on chest parents. Previous studies have shown that skin contact provides a number of positive benefits for babies include reducing pain.
