Ventolin HFA, Drug Spray for bronchospasm

Ventolin HFA included in the beta2-adrenergic agonists. The active component of Ventolin HFA (albuterol sulfate inhalation aerosol) is albuterol sulfate, USP, and Relatively selective beta2-adrenergic bronchodilator.

Albuterol sulfate has the chemical name of α1-[(tert-butylamino) methyl]-4-hydroxy-m-xylene-α, α '-diol sulfate (2:1) (salt). Albuterol sulfate is a white crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 576.7 and empirical formula (C13H21NO3) 2. H2SO4. Having properties of soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol.

World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the name of the drug with albuterol base is salbutamol. Each unit Ventolin HFA is a pressurized aerosol the dosage is equipped with a counter. Ventolin HFA is intended only for the use of oral inhalation for bronchospasm (narrowing of the pulmonary tract as a result of respiratory disorders such as asthma).

composition

Each unit contains a microcrystalline suspension of albuterol sulfate in propellant HFA-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane).

indication

1. Treatment or prevention of bronchospasm with reversible obstructive airway disease in patients aged> 4 years.

2. Exercise-Induced bronchospasm in patients aged> 4 years.

contraindications

Hypersensitivity to albuterol sulfate or other ingredients of Ventolin

dose

Aerosol inhalation: 108 mcg of albuterol sulfate (90 mcg albuterol base) per spray.
