Quick Chewing Can be Speed ​​Obesity

Middle-aged woman who chewed quickly are much more likely to be overweight or obese than women who ate more slowly, according to the New Zealand study.

Otago University researchers analyzed the relationship between speed of eating and body mass index (BMI) of more than 1,500 New Zealand women aged 40 to 50 years. It is a known age group at high risk of overweight.

Lead researcher Dr Caroline Horwath said that after adjusting for various factors such as age, ethnicity, smoking, physical activity, and menopausal status, the researchers found that women are more quickly when chewing is more likely to have a fat body.

Results from two years of research will be published next year. If the analysis of this causal relationship is clearly evident, the researchers will test interventions focused on encouraging women to eat more slowly.
