Cause of Women Fear of Horror Films Found

Movies that show scenes of scary or horror is generally preferred by men and women be avoided. Now the reason why women are afraid to horror movies found.

A study found that women were more likely to anticipate the scary scene that appears in front of it, these conditions make women more fearful than men when watching a horror movie.

When watching a horror movie, women are always guessing the more negative the next scene as a form of anticipation, while men just enjoy the spectacle before him.

Researchers know this because when given a warning about the extreme violence or horror the woman's brain will immediately respond by doing an act, while the male brain to stay calm until the incident occurred or revealed.

The results of these studies have shown that the anticipation of something bad has caused quite a reaction in the female brain, but not for men, as quoted by Medindia on Tuesday (09/06/2011).

Also when women are faced with something that is negative then it would be faster to respond emotionally as a result of activity in the brain that affects memory. If precaution is done while watching a horror movie great, the more it will remember the scene.

Anticipating an unpleasant events can help prepare the body's reaction to a threatening situation. But if anticipation is done is excessive it can cause psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression.

The study was conducted by researchers from University College London who studies how gender anticipation of unpleasant events. A total of 30 participants measured brain activity while viewing positive scenery (landscapes peace) and negative views (extreme violence).

The results of these studies have been reported in The Journal of Neuroscience.
