Number of Fat People, Beyond The Hunger

The number of people who are overweight globally excess has now exceeded the starving population. However, suffering from malnutrition due to food crisis continues to rise. Similarly, warnings delivered by the International Federation of Red Cross.

In the annual report titled World Disaster Report that specifically talk about nutrition, they highlight the gap between rich and poor, as well as problems caused by rising food prices.

Regarding access to food, the Red Cross also pointed out that in 2010 there were 1.5 billion people who suffer from obesity, while there are 925 million people are still hunger.

The situation is as scandalous a double-edged. Excess nutrients are now more kills than hunger.

The problem of hunger in the world happens not only because of the absence of food, but also because of poor distribution, waste and high prices so that food is not affordable.

Globally in 2011 was a sharp increase in food prices, so it is feared would trigger a crisis like in 2008 which led to riots and political instability in many countries.


Increasing food prices, according to the agency is also caused by climate change, and commodity trade speculation. "Inflation in food prices lead poor countries become poorer and this situation triggers hunger,"
