Midwives from Bali to the World Heroes

A midwife from Bali to be a hero of the world. He entered the Top 10 CNN Heroes, an award given to people who contribute to the immediate community.

Midwife Robin Lim was named a nominee in the award for his role helping mothers give birth in Bali in healthy children safely. Lim, thus usually called Robin Lim in Bali, Bumi Sehat Foundation founded in 2003.

The foundation is offering prenatal care and childbirth assistance for free and healthy. The goal is to reduce child and maternal mortality in the birth process, which is still high in the region including Asia. Lim said that Bumi Sehat Foundation established the motivation comes from personal experience.

"I lost my best friend and midwife at the birth of my child. I also lost my sister and her baby who died because of complications during the third pregnancy. I was devastated," said Lim told CNN, March 2011 ago.

From this experience, Lim decided to not upset. He strives to be a party that is able to provide solutions. He then sold his house in Hawaii with her husband and decided to move to Bali.

Asia, and Bali, not a strange place for Lim because he grew up in the Philippines. There is one principle in Lim's ministry at Bumi Sehat Foundation.

"Rock star or a prostitute, all patients are treated like a VIP at Bumi Sehat, with kindness and respect. Nothing is so rich with a midwife. Wealth that you all are experiencing is the largest value that we get," said Lim.

Yayasan Bumi Sehat as the development, many people started looking to buy the place. There are also expatriates and celebrities who choose to give birth at this clinic and give a donation afterwards. The Balinese were many who choose to give birth at Bumi Sehat.

As many as 80 percent of them get services for free. When the tsunami occurred in Aceh in 2006, Bumi Sehat clinic opened there to serve among those who need health services.

With two clinics in Bali and Aceh, Bumi Sehat has been serving the birth of 5000 babies. One of the celebrities who give birth here is Oppie Andaresta. The mission of Healthy Earth will certainly continue.

As part of the Top Ten CNN Heroes, Lim will receive 50,000 U.S. dollars to continue its mission. Lim also had the honor to present at "CNN Heroes: An All Star Tribute," which will be broadcast globally on December 11th, 2011 at 20.00 times the U.S. and Canada or December 12, 2011 am in Indonesia.

Lim is also likely to be the winner of the CNN Heroes of the Year and was awarded 250,000 U.S. dollars. To be a winner, Lim needs to voting, including from you all.

Voting can still be done until December 7, 2011 coming through CNNHeroes.com site. Choosing Lim means supporting the welfare of mothers in Indonesia. Operation of this year's CNN Heroes is the fifth.

This campaign has memprofilkan 160 people on CNN and CNN.com. A total of 400,000 from 100 countries have registered as candidates for CNN Heroes in five years.

Jim Walton, CNN Worldwide chief, said that this award aims to support the mission of every individual who diligently and sincerely provide meaningful service to the community.
